I know how you feel! I'm all about Amazon too. I used to get all of my textbooks there (with the notable exception of french language literature) and it was SOOOO much cheaper than the university bookstore. I would literally find books used for 50 cents when the university bookstore was charging like $20 for the exact same books!

I have an ipod nano from the previous generation and it works great. Maybe the new ones are a little sketchy?
